Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, met with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Director-General, Gerd Müller, to discuss enhancing cooperation and advancing sustainable development goals.

The meeting focused on fostering collaboration in key sectors to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and promote global industrial growth.

According to the statement, “Further, Alkhorayef, who is on an official visit to Denmark, discussed with Müller the means of strengthening the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and United Nations Industrial Development Organization to advance sustainable industrial development goals.”

The two sides also addressed preparations for Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 21st session of the UNIDO General Conference, slated to be held in Riyadh next November.

The meeting lauded the close cooperation between the Kingdom and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to promote comprehensive and sustainable industrial development. The officials reviewed three major agreements that both parties intend to conclude.

These include an agreement to host the 21st UNIDO General Conference, an agreement to establish a UNIDO regional office in the Kingdom, and a basic cooperation agreement to bolster long-term partnerships in key industrial sectors.

Hosting the UNIDO General Conference further reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional industrial hub that supports dialogue and leads industrial policies. It reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to cooperating with international organizations for sustainable industrial development, as per the statement.
