Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has launched five new logistics routes designed to enhance supply chain efficiency and better integrate various modes of transportation across the Kingdom.

These newly introduced routes strategically link key Arabian Gulf ports with Saudi Arabia’s central and northern regions, further extending connectivity to the Red Sea and neighboring countries in the north.

By leveraging a seamless multimodal network of road and rail systems, the Saudi Arabia Railways initiative strongly supports the National Transport and Logistics Strategy as well as Saudi Vision 2030’s broader ambition to position the Kingdom as a leading global logistics hub.

Managed through a highly coordinated and integrated logistics system, the network incorporates critical infrastructure such as the Riyadh Dry Port along with major cargo yards located in Dammam, Jubail, Ras Al-Khair, Al-Kharj, Hail, and Al-Qurayyat.

These newly developed routes are designed to efficiently facilitate the transportation of key commodities, including petrochemicals and minerals, which are essential to the Kingdom’s industrial growth. By directly connecting local industrial and production centers with international shipping lines, the initiative significantly reduces transit times, enhances delivery predictability, and improves overall operational reliability for major industrial and mining sectors.

Bashar AlMalik, Cheif Executive Officer of Saudi Arabia Railways, noted that the introduction of these routes will help remove thousands of heavy trucks from the roads, thereby improving road safety, easing congestion, and contributing to a noticeable reduction in carbon emissions.

He further emphasized that this expansion strengthens Saudi Arabia’s strategic position as a vital logistics corridor linking East and West, ensuring the smooth, efficient, and uninterrupted flow of international trade even amid rapidly evolving global supply chain dynamics and challenges.
