Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Authority for Civil Aviation of Syria aimed at strengthening technical cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
The MoU outlines a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation based on mutual interests, common goals, and respect for the legal and regulatory frameworks governing aviation in both countries.
It seeks to establish a robust regulatory framework to govern air transport operations and facilitate smoother bilateral travel and connectivity.
Both authorities emphasized their intent to build a cooperative relationship that fosters greater collaboration in civil aviation, benefiting both countries’ airline industries. Additionally, the updated air transport services agreement aims to streamline operations, enhance safety standards, and promote the exchange of technical expertise.
This move marks a significant step towards strengthening ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria in the aviation sector, opening the door for future growth and development in air travel between the two nations.
The MoU was signed during a meeting between Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and Omar Hisham al-Hussary, President of the General Authority for Civil Aviation of Syria. The signing took place at GACA’s headquarters in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed several topics of mutual interest and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas that support the exchange of expertise and strengthen integration between the two countries.
Furthermore, they explored the provision of technical and advisory support for the civil aviation sector, including air traffic management and navigation services, to ensure the smooth and safe flow of air traffic between the two countries and across regional airspace. Infrastructure development projects were also discussed.
