The Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has called on all tourism service providers in the Kingdom, including hospitality facilities and travel and tourism service companies, to register on SDAIA’s National Data Governance Platform.
This SDAIA registration of tourism service providers comes in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law, helping unite the national registry and monitor adherence to data protection standards within the Kingdom.
The decision is taken in accordance with Article (2) of the regulations governing the National Register of Controllers authorities within the Kingdom and supports SDAIA’s efforts to establish a unified national registry to monitor compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law and its implementing regulations.
The National Data Governance Platform serves as a key channel for providing services related to personal data protection. It helps entities and individuals comply with the law, its executive regulations, and related documents issued by SDAIA. The platform offers several services, including a compliance self-assessment tool, personal data leak notification, privacy impact assessments, and a service for receiving complaints related to data processing.
The Saudi Tourism Ministry has urged all tourism service providers to register promptly through the official website. The ministry underscored the importance of utilizing the platform’s comprehensive electronic services, which are designed to facilitate full compliance with the system and its executive regulations.
Furthermore, the ministry has warned that the failure to register will be considered as a violation subject to the strict penalties outlined in Article (36) of the Personal Data Protection Law, highlighting the critical nature of adhering to these legal requirements.
