The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with the World Bank, has launched an international workshop titled “Towards the Future: AI Governance and International Cooperation,” held in Washington, D.C., from April 6 to 10.
The event brings together global experts, international organizations, and government representatives to discuss the future of AI governance and foster international collaboration.
The workshop intends to advance concepts of AI governance, review global best practices, and explore mechanisms to develop international cooperation frameworks. It contributes to the formulation of policies that ensure the responsible use of emerging technologies and support a secure and trusted digital ecosystem aligned with sustainable development goals.
Discussions also cover multilateral cooperation, alignment of global frameworks with national policies, and anticipation of future challenges associated with rapid AI advancements.
On the sidelines of the workshop, SDAIA, in collaboration with the Digital Government Authority and the World Bank, is organizing a ‘Saudi Day’ event. The event showcases the Kingdom’s national model in adopting advanced AI technologies and highlights success stories in leveraging data and AI across various sectors.
It also presents national initiatives and advanced digital infrastructure, and their role in enhancing government efficiency and improving the quality of life.
The workshop builds on the strategic partnership between SDAIA and the World Bank and reflects the Kingdom’s role in advancing international dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence through knowledge exchange and strengthened partnerships.
It coincides with the Kingdom’s celebration of the Year of Artificial Intelligence, reinforcing its position as a global technology leader in line with Saudi Vision 2030, as per the statement.
