The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched ‘Awn 60+’, a new service designed to help senior citizens aged 60 and above access departmental services without visiting its headquarters.
The ‘Awn +60’ service allows for a wide range of services, including issuing, renewing, and amending licenses, processing commercial permits, technical evaluations, legal services, and all other departmental services.
The service can be accessed easily through WhatsApp or by calling the department’s dedicated landline, providing senior citizens with simple, direct communication channels that remove the need for digital complexity or in-person visits.
SEDD explained that the Awn 60+ service is provided outside the department’s premises, specifically for senior citizens. Department staff will visit the applicant’s residence in cases where they find it difficult to use modern technology or visit the department’s offices.
This ensures their transactions are completed with ease and complete comfort. Furthermore, their satisfaction with the service is regularly measured to ensure continuous improvement and to meet their needs according to the highest quality standards.
HE Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD and a member of the Sharjah Executive Council, said that the Awn 60+ service reflects the Sharjah government’s commitment to caring for senior citizens by providing flexible, smart, and accessible services tailored to their needs. He emphasized SEDD’s focus on improving accessibility through digital platforms and field visits, ensuring high-quality services for all segments of society.
Al Mahmoud added that Awn 60+ goes beyond being a service, representing a key initiative that supports Sharjah’s vision of enhancing quality of life and expanding access to government services, particularly for senior citizens. He noted that the initiative aligns with the leadership’s directives to value and empower seniors, offering a convenient, efficient service model that reaches beneficiaries wherever they are.
