Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has unveiled a new autonomous vehicle route in Riyadh, connecting Hayat Mall and Riyadh Gallery.

This move is part of the country’s broader plans to expand autonomous transport services across multiple locations and foster the adoption of smart solutions within the Kingdom’s transportation sector.

TGA noted that the vehicles will operate daily under direct regulatory and technical supervision, providing a safe and innovative transport experience for beneficiaries.

This launch follows the success of the previous phase, during which several autonomous routes became operational.

During this phase, the vehicles completed over 1,700 trips, transporting more than 3,000 passengers and covering a total distance of over 30,000 kilometers. The initiative’s strong performance highlights its readiness for expansion, with additional routes set to be introduced in the near future.

Expanding Transport Flexibility

The Transport General Authority has recently announced that licensed commercial transport establishments are now authorized to contract third-party goods transport services on their own behalf.

This measure, which will remain in effect as an exceptional measure until September 25, is designed to enhance the efficient utilization of the land transport fleet and provide greater operational flexibility in response to the evolving market needs.

TGA introduces Logisti platform

In addition, the TGA also introduced a comprehensive directory of licensed truck freight carriers through its ‘Logisti’ platform.

This new initiative facilitates seamless connections between local and international companies and approved transporters, further improving the efficiency of cargo movement both within Saudi Arabia and across the broader region.

The platform is expected to streamline logistics processes, enabling businesses to quickly access reliable transport services and contribute to the overall growth of the freight sector.
