The UAE Parliamentary Division has participated in the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum held in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, which centered on global economic challenges while enhancing collaboration among BRICS countries.
The nation took part in a session titled, “Brics Parliamentary Action in Search of New Paths for Economic Development,” where Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs in the Federal National Council (FNC), presented the UAE delegation’s statement. Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, FNC Member, accompanied the delegation.
During the session, Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted that navigating new paths for economic development amid current global challenges is a significant endeavor.
The chairman also stressed to uphold two core pillars: first, the commitment to the founding principles and goals of BRICS, and second, focusing on people-centric development through genuine partnerships and innovative initiatives that foster inclusive and impactful economic development.
Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted that the post-World War II international order is undergoing significant transformation, posing serious threats to the principle of economic justice. BRICS nations need to stay united around key principles, particularly fair trade, mutual interests, and inclusive development.
Nuaimi stated that the role of parliaments go beyond legislation and oversight to ensuring that economic policies improve people’s lives through development initiatives with a positive impact.
The chairman underscored development should center on the establishment of a humane economy that supports marginalized communities, promotes social justice, and ensures no region or population is left behind.
Dr. Al Nuaimi concluded that building trust among BRICS nations, staying true to the group’s founding principles, and implementing fruitful economic initiatives are key steps toward a fairer, more cooperative and prosperous future for all.
