UAE-based cloud and managed IT service provider BIOS Middle East has established two new cloud data centers in Riyadh and Jeddah to serve Saudi Arabian customers.
The cloud data centers were developed in late 2020 using the VMware cloud stack, which has been the core of BIOS’ UAE offerings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi since 2013.
BIOS Middle East said in a statement that its first group of clients has already been integrated, providing it with ready reference accounts in the financial services and healthcare sectors.
The new two cloud zones will allow the kingdom’s businesses to store all of their data within the country’s borders, addressing data residency requirements for controlled sectors. According to Saudi Arabian multinational petroleum and natural gas company Saudi Aramco, the kingdom’s cloud services market is valued at $10 billion.
The kingdom implemented its ‘cloud-first’ strategy in 2019, to promote the transformation of the public sector from conventional IT systems to cloud-based models. The purpose of the policy is to help Saudi organizations enhance productivity, reinforce cybersecurity, and encourage innovation to achieve the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 program.
