Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s (ADNOC) shipping and maritime logistics arm ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) is acquiring six-line boats to provide key marine services across the UAE region.
The company said in a statement that it procured the vessels from Sharjah-based Albwardy Damen, a joint venture between Albwardy Investment of Dubai and the Netherlands-headquartered Damen Shipyards Group.
As per the statement, “The company acquired the Damen Stan Tug 1606 type of line boat to offer maritime services. The steel-hulled, twin-screw vessels are powered by two Caterpillar engines providing nearly 16 tons of bollard pull.” With their proven design, these line boats allow ADNOC L&S to continue providing reliable and efficient operations to the Petroleum Ports Authority (PPA) in Abu Dhabi.
The agreement enables significant value to flow back to the UAE economy and is in line with the company’s efforts to purchase more locally. ADNOC L&S Logistics and Marine Services uses line boats to aid in berthing and unberthing tankers, as well as handling hoses, at the oil terminals.
