Al Ghurair has launched the Al Ghurair Collection, its super-prime freehold residential portfolio, debuting with Wedyan, a landmark waterfront residence along the Dubai Canal.
Designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, in his first project in the UAE, Wedyan delivers on Al Ghurair Collection’s commitment to originality and craftsmanship to create something never seen before in Dubai.
The launch of Wedyan coincides with soaring demand for ultra-luxury real estate in Dubai, as the market reaches record highs. In the first half of 2025, the city logged $117.37 billion (AED 431 billion) in transactions, a 25 percent year-on-year surge; with sales of homes priced above $2.72 million (AED 10 million) increasing more than fourfold in recent years. This remarkable growth underscores Dubai’s global appeal as discerning families increasingly choose the city for long-term residence and investment.
Designed by Kengo Kuma and with its name meaning ‘valleys’, Wedyan is envisioned as a future landmark in the UAE. At Wedyan, he has applied Kuma San approach by shaping a façade inspired by the movement of water and sand. Its layered profile and textured exterior, echoes the rhythm of the desert and valleys, creating a building without precedent in the city.
Rising 46 storeys, Wedyan features 149 residences, including three- to five-bedroom apartments, two full-floor penthouses, and a three-storey sky villa. Designed for refined living, the homes offer expansive outdoor spaces, dual kitchens for entertaining, UV-protective glazing for art, and optional Japanese teahouse-inspired pavilions for versatile use.
Over 30 specialists collaborated on every detail, with landscaping by Gustafson Porter + Bowman integrating greenery and water elements throughout. Deep-planted terraces, shaded promenades, and resilient flora such as aloe vera and Bismarck palms create sky gardens and a lush ground-level promenade along the Dubai Canal.

Architect Kengo Kuma describes Wedyan as a fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Dubai’s unique character, embodying his philosophy of connecting architecture, nature, and people.
