The American multinational tech company Apple is set to unveil a new conversation translation feature in its AirPods through software update, enabling AirPods users to converse with people speaking different languages, with translations happening in real-time.

The company’s truly wireless stereo (TWS) headset will use a connected iPhone’s processor to translate in-person conversations in real-time. This cutting-edge feature is similar to the real-time conversation translation feature that Google introduced in its Pixel Buds TWS headset back in 2017. The feature works when the wireless headset is connected to a Google Pixel smartphone.

Apple’s new AirPods Live Translation Feature will arrive with iOS 19 Update. This implies that the new functionality will be compatible with existing AirPods models.

The feature will use the smartphone’s processor to translate audio received from the AirPods. As a result, users will hear translated audio from non-English speakers through their AirPods, and the speakers will hear translated responses from the user through the iPhone’s speaker. This ensures seamless conversation and elevates users experience to new heights.

Building on its previous update that enabled AirPods to function as hearing aids, the company is also reportedly working on AirPods equipped with cameras and artificial intelligence (AI) features.

Recently, Apple’s subsidiary Beats launched the ‘Powerbeats Pro 2’ for athletes, featuring a cutting-edge heart rate monitoring sensor along with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, and wireless charging. The upcoming AirPods and Beats models may introduce innovative features.
