The Arab Information and Communication Technology Union (AICTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Federation of Global & ICT (IFGICT) to drive the growth of Arab digital economy.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of GITEX Africa 2025, highlights the unwavering commitment of both AICTU and IFGICT to ensuring that Arab nations not only participate in the event but also shape the future of digital economy.

This landmark partnership marks the beginning of a new era of cross-regional cooperation, aimed at driving technological advancements and sustainable development across the Arab world.

AICTU, established in 2018 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, unites the leading ICT associations from ten Arab nations—including Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Kuwait, Palestine, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, and Iraq—under a shared vision of harnessing ICT as a key driver of socio-economic transformation.

Founded in 2014, IFGICT is an international non-profit organization headquartered in the United States. The organization stands out for its contributions to setting global ICT standards in collaboration with leading institutions such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

With a robust focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, green computing, sustainable development, and smart cities, IFGICT’s mission strongly aligns with that of AICTU.

The MoU outlines a shared commitment to:

  • Introduce joint programs and initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and technological advancement across the Arab ICT ecosystem.
  • Promote hands-on training and professional development to cultivate a new generation of certified Arab ICT experts in alignment with international standards.
  • Facilitate the exchange of knowledge in areas such as digital standards, certification, and ICT governance to enhance regional competitiveness on the global stage.
  • Stimulate private sector engagement in ICT innovation and regional digital transformation.
  • Contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through technology-driven, community-oriented initiatives.

This strategic alliance between AICTU and IFGICT marks a key step toward realizing a cohesive Arab digital future grounded in excellence and inclusivity.
