Eman Ahmed Al Doseri, Undersecretary of the Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, has chaired the 48th preparatory meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Industry in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held via video conference as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th GCC session.
During the meeting, Al Doseri emphasized the importance of strengthening joint coordination across strategic sectors to enhance the capacity of the Gulf Cooperation Council to respond to evolving conditions and achieve sustainable development goals.
Al Doseri highlighted that this comes amid ongoing regional developments, including Iranian attacks on GCC countries and continued threats to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which have posed challenges to economic and industrial stability.
She noted that such actions not only impact the global economy but also target the development gains of GCC states, disrupting long-established industrial progress and economic growth across the region.
Al Doseri affirmed that GCC countries have demonstrated strong efficiency in addressing these developments by activating alternative logistical routes and enhancing supply chain resilience, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of goods and safeguarding local markets.
The Undersecretary also highlighted the key role played by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman in facilitating the movement of goods through land ports, strengthening regional connectivity, and presenting a practical model of integration of the council during times of crisis.
The meeting reviewed several key agenda items, including finalizing the definition of the Gulf National Product, addressing localization standards across industrial sectors, enhancing collective protection mechanisms for industrial products, and exploring opportunities for joint industrial investment and priority products within the GCC industrial sector.
