Following its temporary suspension in March due to COVID-19 disruptions, the Kingdom of Bahrain will start accepting requests for new work permits (Visas) starting from August 9th, 2020.

The decision announced by Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) will allow private employers to hire employees from abroad.

The regulatory authority has brought in a few changes to the private sector’s hiring process by mandating the organizations to make the announcements of vacancies in local newspapers, to allow interested Bahrainis and expatriates residing in the country to apply for postings for a duration of 2 weeks.

The LMRA this decision to prioritize local hiring is expected to help the nation to reduce its regional employment rates along with expatriates currently residing in the Kingdom who are suffering from job losses due to the COVID induced lockdowns and economic slowdown
