HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, has welcomed Almaz Tasbolat, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to discuss strengthening cooperation in renewable energy and water.

The meeting was attended by senior DEWA officials, including Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; and Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources.

The meeting also reviewed shared initiatives and DEWA’s leadership in clean energy, efficiency, and innovation. Discussions also covered investment opportunities, projects and the exchange of expertise, supporting the growing economic relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan.

HE Al Tayer highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan, affirming Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s readiness to share expertise and collaborate with a country that has strong renewable energy potential.

He outlined DEWA’s key initiatives to diversify Dubai’s energy mix, especially clean and renewable projects supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming for 100 percent clean energy capacity by 2050.

He also highlighted the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, with a capacity of 3,860MW. Clean energy currently contributes over 21.5 percent of DEWA’s capacity, expected to reach 36 percent by 2030, reducing more than 8.5 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

Al Tayer added that DEWA ranks first globally in 13 key performance indicators and two regional KPIs across utilities, and has led innovation in energy and water for over three decades with a strong focus on sustainability.

Almaz Tasbolat, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, expressed his appreciation for the meeting and reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to further deepening its partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, particularly in advancing collaboration across renewable energy, water management, and sustainable development initiatives.
