DEWA has held a meeting with PMI, focusing on advancing project management excellence and fostering collaboration in sustainable development.

PMI, established in 1969, is a not-for-profit professional membership association for project managers and program managers. Today, PMI has a membership of over 2.9 million professionals from around the world.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Pierre Le Manh, President and CEO of the Project Management Institute (PMI) carried out discussions centered on leveraging PMI’s extensive expertise in project management to elevate DEWA’s initiatives in sustainability, innovation and operational efficiency.

Both parties reaffirmed the significance of creating a culture of continuous improvement and learning to address the complexities of today’s rapidly evolving landscape.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s commitment to implementing innovative projects that fall in line with Dubai’s vision to drive a sustainable future. DEWA’s ongoing efforts to adopt advanced technologies and sustainable practices that ensure efficiency and effectiveness in delivering transformative energy solutions, was also mentioned.

Furthermore, the CEO underscored the longstanding partnership between DEWA and PMI, which started in 2010 and has achieved remarkable growth over the years. From an initial offering of just three project management courses, the collaboration has expanded to include a comprehensive portfolio of 18 specialized courses.

These cover a diverse array of topics, including project management, agility and artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting DEWA’s unwavering commitment to providing its project, program and portfolio managers with cutting-edge knowledge and skills.

As of the end of 2024, a total of 280 DEWA employees have achieved the esteemed Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with an additional 120 professionals obtaining other PMI certifications, reflecting DEWA’s dedication to promoting a culture of excellence in project management.

In 2025, DEWA launched new training programs in construction management, AI in project management and agility-focused courses. These initiatives address the evolving needs of the industry and reinforce DEWA’s focus on innovative approaches to project execution.

Pierre Le Manh underscored DEWA’s leadership in the global energy sector with a strong focus on sustainability. The president also expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations aimed at knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices in project management. These efforts will lead to sustainable outcomes across projects, driving impactful change.
