Qatar Chamber has reaffirmed its commitment to workforce development, digital transformation, and sustainable economic growth through its participation in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva.

The conference, which runs until June 12, brings together representatives of governments, employers, and workers from 187 member states of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to discuss key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of work.

The Qatar Chamber delegation includes Eng. Nasser Ahmed Al Meer, Advisor to the Chairman of the Qatar Chamber for Labor Affairs and employers’ representative in Qatar; Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Director of the Legal Affairs Department; and Hamad Ali Al Marri, Director of the Committees and Business Councils Affairs Department.

Speaking during the conference, Eng. Nasser Al Meer commended the ILO’s efforts in advancing economic development, social justice, and decent work worldwide.

Al Meer noted that the rapid technological progress and digital transformation are reshaping labor markets, making investment in human capital and future-ready skills increasingly important for sustaining economic growth and enhancing competitiveness.

Al Meer emphasized that the digital transformation is creating new professions and changing the nature of work, requiring employers to modernize workplaces and adopt innovative solutions to address emerging labor market challenges. He added that adapting to these changes is essential to reducing unemployment risks and preparing workforces for future economic demands.

Nasser Al Meer further highlighted Qatar Chamber’s role as the representative of employers in Qatar and expressed appreciation for the country’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation, exchange expertise, and promote best practices in labor market development. He also stressed the importance of reinforcing social dialogue among governments, employers, and workers while leveraging digital technologies and artificial intelligence to support sustainable development and create quality employment opportunities.

Al Meer reaffirmed the Qatar Chamber’s commitment to the principles of the International Labour Organization and underscored the importance of international collaboration in addressing labor and development challenges.

The chamber’s participation reflects Qatar’s ongoing efforts to contribute to global discussions on the future of work, workforce development, and the role of innovation in building resilient and inclusive labor markets.
