The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) will celebrate 39 businesses and organizations in the UAE for their outstanding achievements and efforts in pursuing quality and excellence at the 28th Business Excellence Awards ceremony.

The ceremony will be held virtually in the third week of March under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and it will be led by Mr. Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of DET.

At the ceremony, 21 businesses from the retail, services, healthcare, hospitality, and e-commerce sectors will be honored under the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES), while 18 businesses from tourism, service-leading organizations, business associations, and industrial sectors are commemorated in the Dubai Quality Awards (DQA) series.

Shaikha Ahmad Al Bishri, Director of the Business Excellence Department at DET stated that “The 28th Business Excellence Awards are a testament to the resilience and adaptability of businesses in the UAE and the impact of the decisive measures adopted by the leadership to ensure business continuity in the face of a challenging global business landscape.”

The new edition of the awards saw an increase of more than 10 percent in applicants, while the overall increase over the last 28 years was more than 300 percent, which indicates the integration achieved among businesses and service organizations with the concept of quality and excellence.

In total, Business Excellence Awards have chosen more than 650 winners from 22,000 participants over the past 27 years. To date, more than 500 mystery shoppers, 3,000 evaluators and 5,000 applicants have been trained on a variety of topics of excellence as part of their 120,000 feedback report collection.

The Award plays an important role in enhancing excellence within the business community. Last year, more than 1,500 delegates were involved in various events, including training workshops, webinars, for assessors, mystical shoppers, and business community representatives, 12 percent more than the previous year.

Shaikha Al Bishri further added that “In spite of the pandemic, the government and the private sector have focused on excellence in technology, innovation and customer happiness, in Dubai and across the UAE. The best practices being recognized at this year’s Business Excellence Awards will be an indicator of the excellence knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement within the business community.”

Participants in DSES are honored in two main categories: the Best Branch and the Best Brand.

This year DQA winners are honored in six categories

  • Gold Category
  • Dubai Quality Award
  • Dubai Quality Appreciation Award (DQAA)
  • Dubai Quality Appreciation Award for Representative Entities
  • Dubai Quality Global Award (DQGA)

The Dubai Quality Award encourages and motivates organizations to adopt an international framework, with best practices, to achieve excellence and be recognized as role models.
