Dubai RTA strikes 3 deals to enhance smart mobility solutions

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed three agreements to enhance mass transit solutions, on the side-lines of the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition 2022.

The first agreement was signed with UAE-based real estate developer, Nakheel to provide payment services via nol card at the Palm Monorail train stations in the Palm Jumeirah. The agreement was signed by Mr. Mohammed Al Mudharreb, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, RTA, and Mr. Omar Khoory, Chief Hospitality and Assets Officer, Nakheel.

The Palm Monorail, the first and only mobility service of its kind in the Middle East, reaffirms Nakheel’s commitment to enhancing mobility between major destinations on the Palm Jumeirah, besides providing smart options for customers in paying fares.

“RTA always seeks to enter into agreements that serve its projects, especially those serving public transport riders, and the UAE as a whole. Through hosting MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition 2022, RTA aims to review the latest developments, and devise smart and sustainable solutions. The three agreements reflect RTA’s efforts to strengthen tourism and trade sector with energy-saving and eco-friendly transport solutions.”

The second was signed with Dubai Investments Park to enhance the operation, maintenance and development work within the protected zone of Route 2020 of Dubai Metro. Mr. Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency, RTA, and Mr. Omar Al Mesmar, General Manager at Dubai Investments Park, signed the agreement.

The signing of the agreement stems from a solid strategy of the Dubai Investments Park to pursue a futuristic vision that contributes to advancing Dubai’s profile as a global destination.

The third agreement was signed remotely with CRRC Zhuzhou, an electric locomotive manufacturer in the Republic of China, to study the feasibility of developing a technological system for the Dubai Tram. Mr. Younes and Mr. Yang Zhiguo, CEO of CRRC Zhuzhou, signed the third agreement.

This agreement for Dubai Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART), is to provide Dubai with innovative, smart and green transportation solutions. The ART has distinctive features such as a short construction cycle, urban adaptability and energy efficiency.
