The Fujairah Free Zone Authority has explored opportunities to enhance economic and investment cooperation with China, discussing prospects for joint initiatives across sectors of mutual interest as both sides seek to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

The discussions took place during a visit by Ou Boqian, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to the Fujairah Free Zone Authority. The visit was aimed at reinforcing the longstanding relationship between the two sides and identifying new avenues for economic collaboration.

During a meeting with Sharief Habib Al Awadhi, Director-General of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority, the Chinese Consul-General was briefed on the competitive investment advantages offered by the Emirate of Fujairah. The discussions also highlighted the Free Zone’s advanced infrastructure, integrated business services, and investor-friendly incentives that continue to attract international companies and position Fujairah as a strategic commercial hub in the region.

Al Awadhi stated that the visit reflects the depth of the historic economic and diplomatic ties between the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China. He noted that both countries share a strong commitment to expanding economic cooperation, supporting mutual interests, and advancing sustainable development goals through stronger trade and investment partnerships.

He added that the Fujairah Free Zone places significant importance on its relationship with the Chinese business community. Al Awadhi emphasized that Fujairah’s strategic location on the Indian Ocean, combined with its world-class logistics infrastructure and connectivity, makes it an ideal gateway for Chinese companies looking to expand their operations and commercial activities across Middle Eastern and African markets.

The discussions form part of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment, strengthen international partnerships, and enhance Fujairah’s position as a leading destination for global business and trade.
