Dhofar Islamic has been named Oman’s Best Islamic Retail Bank at the MENA Banking Excellence Awards 2026 – Retail, Digital & SME Banking, recognizing the bank’s performance in customer-focused Islamic banking, digital innovation and product development.
The award, organized by Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) in partnership with GlobalData, recognizes leading financial institutions across 11 countries in the Middle East and North Africa for achievements in retail, digital and SME banking.
The inaugural awards program highlights financial institutions transforming retail banking through digital innovation, personalized customer experiences, financial inclusion and new banking solutions. Winners were selected through an independent evaluation process involving senior banking executives and industry experts, with strategic vision, innovation and commitment to customer excellence among the key judging criteria.
The latest recognition strengthens Dhofar Islamic’s position as one of Oman’s leading Islamic banking institutions. Since beginning operations following the introduction of Islamic banking in Oman in 2012, the bank has developed one of the country’s largest Sharia-compliant banking franchises, offering retail, corporate, SME and wealth management solutions.
Dhofar Islamic’s growth has been supported by a wide range of Sharia-compliant products and services, including personal finance, home finance, vehicle finance, business banking and investment solutions. The bank has also expanded its digital banking capabilities, providing customers with secure and convenient services through advanced mobile and online platforms while maintaining an extensive Islamic banking branch network.
Dhofar Islamic currently operates 31 dedicated branches across all governorates of Oman, serving customers including children, youth, women, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals through specialized banking offerings such as Al Rafaa and Al Riadah.
Beyond retail banking, Dhofar Islamic continues to support Oman’s economic development by financing strategic infrastructure projects, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises, and contributing to sustainable growth initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
The MENA Banking Excellence Award adds to Dhofar Islamic’s growing list of regional and international recognitions in Islamic banking, digital transformation, customer service and innovation. The latest accolade highlights the bank’s commitment to providing world-class Sharia-compliant financial solutions while supporting the continued development of Islamic banking in Oman and the wider region.
