Ignite Energy Access, Africa’s leading distributed renewable energy provider, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to develop its global headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, ADIO will support Ignite Energy Access to scale its operations and expand its presence regionally and globally while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for clean energy innovation.
By leveraging a proprietary technology platform, Ignite Energy Access develops, deploys and operates distributed solar solutions across sub-Saharan Africa. This aligns with its mission to connect 100 million people across the continent to clean, sustainable electricity by 2030.
The partnership will enable Ignite to scale its operations across Africa — including solar home systems, solar-powered irrigation and hybrid solar inverters, and commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects — while also expanding its solar-powered digital connectivity solutions to provide internet access to remote communities for the first time.
Additionally, Ignite Energy Access will launch its cutting-edge solar technologies and expertise to the UAE, where the company will deploy standalone off-grid solar projects for rural communities, sustainable farming and eco-friendly transportation and construction.
The relocation of the energy company is expected to create over 200 high-skilled jobs in Abu Dhabi across technology, finance, and supply chain roles. In addition, the company has also committed to a comprehensive knowledge transfer program, collaborating with leading Abu Dhabi-based universities to nurture local expertise through internships, specialist training and industry partnerships.
Furthermore, Ignite will work with Abu Dhabi’s broader renewable energy sector, building on previous engagements with leading organizations such as IRENA and Masdar to drive the emirate’s energy transition goals.
