Invest Qatar has reinforced Qatar’s efforts to deepen economic cooperation with China and expand long-term investment partnerships through high-level business engagements and B2B meetings in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The Qatar delegation was led by Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Qatar. The visit included structured engagements with leading Chinese companies operating in advanced manufacturing, life sciences, industrial technologies, and digital platforms, reflecting Qatar’s focus on attracting diversified foreign direct investment.
During the visit, Invest Qatar held meetings with several major organizations, including WuXi Biologics, Shanghai SUS Environment, Cainiao Group, and Ant International.
These engagements covered potential collaboration opportunities, expansion plans, and sector-specific investment prospects.
The program included executive-level meetings, site visits, and closed-door B2B discussions aimed at presenting Qatar’s investment environment and highlighting opportunities for long-term commercial cooperation.
Discussions also focused on identifying pathways for Chinese companies to expand operations and explore new project development opportunities in Qatar.
Invest Qatar highlighted the country’s investor-centric framework, including streamlined market entry facilitation, regulatory coordination, site selection and expansion support, and comprehensive aftercare services. These measures are designed to enhance investor confidence and support sustainable business growth within Qatar.
Strengthening Qatar–China economic relations
The visit builds on ongoing collaboration between Qatar and Chinese institutions and aligns with broader efforts to promote Asia–Middle East economic integration.
It also reflects Qatar’s continued strategy to attract high-quality foreign direct investment and support economic diversification under national development priorities.
China remains one of Qatar’s key economic partners, with cooperation spanning energy, logistics, manufacturing, technology, and financial services. According to Invest Qatar, approximately 520 Chinese companies are currently operating in Qatar across various sectors.
Between 2017 and 2026, China ranked among the top 10 foreign direct investment source countries for Qatar, contributing 59 investment projects valued at over $3 billion in capital expenditure and generating more than 3,200 jobs, according to the Invest Qatar FDI Projects Monitor.
