The Emirates National Preparedness and Response Programme (Jahiziyah) has launched a national specialized training program, based on a unified internationally accredited curriculum, to strengthen the skills and operational readiness of Emirati paramedics and first responders serving in civilian and military institutions.
The launch follows the successful pilot phase, which trained hundreds of paramedics and first responders from national ambulance services, civil defense, police, healthcare, ambulance and military institutions.
Jahiziyah said that the program builds on previous national initiatives that have trained more than 20,000 frontline personnel, enhanced hospital preparedness and strengthened the emergency response capabilities of ambulance, civil defense, police and military teams.
The initiative seeks to standardize specialized training for Emirati paramedics, unify field operations procedures and improve leadership, coordination and communication between civilian and military agencies to enhance joint emergency response.
The program was developed by Jahiziyah in collaboration with the European Centre for Disaster Medicine, the British Life Saving Group, the American Society for Emergency Medical Services and the American College of Surgeons, and is based on international standards in emergency medicine, disaster response and ambulance services.
Dr. Adel Al-Shamri Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative and CEO of Jahiziyah, said that, “The launch of this program is the culmination of years of joint national work and a continuation of the successes achieved by previous initiatives and training phases, which have contributed to training and qualifying thousands of paramedics and first responders, raising their readiness to deal with various emergencies, crises, and disasters.”
Al-Ajmi added that the program focuses on strengthening the practical and specialized skills of Emirati paramedics, preparing them to respond to major incidents, mass casualty events, and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards, while improving leadership, coordination, communication and decision-making during crises.
