Oman and Niger have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen their commercial and economic partnership, with both countries committing to advance pending agreements and expand collaboration in trade, investment and capacity building.
The commitment came during talks between Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, and Bakary Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger.
The two ministers reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation and explored opportunities to enhance commercial and economic ties. They agreed to expedite the completion of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at promoting greater engagement between government institutions and the private sector in both countries.
The discussions also focused on strengthening trade and investment exchanges while expanding cooperation in capacity building to support sustainable economic development and deliver mutual benefits.
Both sides stressed the importance of increasing communication and collaboration across public and private sector institutions to unlock new economic opportunities and reinforce long-term bilateral relations.
Regional, international issues reviewed
In addition to bilateral cooperation, the ministers exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of common interest. They reaffirmed the importance of maintaining regular consultation and coordination between Oman and Niger on issues affecting regional stability and shared interests.
The meeting was attended by Dr Mohammed Ali Al Balushi, Head of the Africa Department at Oman’s Foreign Ministry, along with senior officials from both the Omani and Nigerien delegations.
The talks reflect the two countries’ shared commitment to broadening economic engagement, strengthening diplomatic relations and creating new opportunities for trade, investment and institutional cooperation.
