The Al Madinah Region Development Authority has announced a new partnership under the Madinah Bus project aimed at enhancing transport connectivity and improving access to public transport infrastructure across Madinah.
The agreement, signed with a national transportation company, seeks to support bus station infrastructure while advancing the integration of transport services within the city’s evolving mobility network.
The partnership focuses on strengthening the operational framework of the Madinah Bus system by providing support for station equipment and infrastructure that facilitates smoother passenger movement.
As part of the agreement, users will also benefit from a 20 percent discount on first- and last-mile transport services to and from bus rapid transit stations through the bus service application.
The initiative is designed to make it easier for commuters to access the network while improving overall connectivity between different modes of transport.
Officials noted that the collaboration forms part of broader efforts to enhance the city’s transport ecosystem through a more integrated and user-focused approach.
By linking public transport services with complementary mobility solutions, the project aims to ensure seamless travel across key destinations in the city while reducing reliance on private vehicles.

Improving urban mobility
The partnership is also expected to play an important role in managing mobility during periods of increased visitor traffic. As one of the most significant religious destinations in Saudi Arabia, Madinah experiences substantial seasonal inflows of visitors and pilgrims throughout the year.
Strengthening transport integration is therefore seen as essential to ensuring efficient movement and maintaining a safe and reliable travel experience for residents, visitors, and worshippers.
The agreement reflects the development authority’s ongoing strategy to expand partnerships with private-sector stakeholders in order to accelerate improvements in urban transport infrastructure.
By leveraging such collaborations, the authority aims to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability of public transportation services.
