The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of the new ‘RSX1’ shipping service operated by Goodrich Maritime to Jeddah Islamic Port.
This strategic addition marks a significant step in enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi ports.
The RSX1 service is expected to boost maritime connectivity, improve operational efficiency, and provide greater support for the Kingdom’s growing export sector.
The move further underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its position as a global leader in maritime transport and supply chain integration, in line with its Vision 2030 goals to transform the Kingdom into a premier logistics hub.
According to the statement, the new service links Jeddah Islamic Port with three regional and international ports: Port Sudan in Sudan, Port of Djibouti in Djibouti, and Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates, with a handling capacity of up to 720 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEUs).
This development is part of Mawani’s efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s global performance indicators and facilitate the movement of national exports in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Jeddah Islamic Port is one of the region’s most prominent ports in terms of capacity, handling up to 130 million tons.
It features advanced infrastructure, including 62 multi-purpose berths, as well as several specialized terminals: two for container handling, two for general cargo, and two shipyards for vessel repair and maintenance. Additionally, there are multiple berths designated for marine services, as per the statement.
