The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of the new ‘Clanga’ shipping service by MSC to Jubail Commercial Port, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness in investment and logistics services.
The new shipping service connects Jubail Commercial Port with King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Singapore Port, Shanghai Port in China, and Colombo Port in Sri Lanka, with a capacity of up to 6,000 standard containers.
This service aims to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a global trade hub, improving the efficiency and frequency of cargo shipments between the Middle East and East Asia.
According to the reports, the Clanga service will offer direct and faster routes for goods transportation, benefiting industries like petrochemicals, machinery, and electronics, and boosting the overall economic growth of Saudi Arabia’s trade sector.
This move reinforces the role of Jubail Commercial Port in enhancing the maritime transport sector and logistics services, supporting economic activities in the Eastern Region due to its proximity to production centers and its advanced facilities, which are capable of handling various types and sizes of vessels.
As per the statement, it also strengthens maritime connectivity between Saudi Arabia and global ports. Furthermore, the service is expected to reduce delivery times and improve supply chain reliability for Saudi businesses.
Last month, Mawani announced the addition of the new shipping service ‘EXS6’ by Caerus to Jeddah Islamic Port, marking one of the first direct maritime shipping services between Saudi Arabia and Syria.
This initiative aligns with Mawani’s efforts to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s standing in the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index, enhance port operational efficiency, and strengthen the Kingdom’s global market connections. The new service aligns also with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, to solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub bridging the three continents.
