The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has launched a new shipping service, the ‘Jebel Ali Middle East Express,’ operated by CMA CGM, at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.
This initiative is designed to strengthen the competitive position of Saudi ports within the global maritime transport industry. By introducing the ‘Jebel Ali Middle East Express,’ the move aims to streamline the flow of international trade, reduce transit times, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
According to the statement, it is expected to foster greater connectivity, attract more shipping lines, and solidify Saudi Arabia’s role as a key player in global trade, ultimately driving economic growth and improving the logistics capabilities of the region.
The new service links King Abdulaziz Port with Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait, Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain, and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, with a handling capacity of up to 2,202 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
This move is part of Mawani’s broader strategy to elevate Saudi Arabia’s standing on global performance benchmarks and boost operational efficiency at King Abdulaziz Port. By improving shipping services, it not only supports the country’s export growth but also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
This strategy seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub, enhancing its role as a vital link between Asia, Africa, and Europe. Ultimately, these efforts contribute to the Kingdom’s long-term goal of becoming a central player in global trade and logistics, as per the statement.
Last month, Mawani added Zhonggu Logistics’ new CRX shipping service at Jeddah Islamic Port to boost the Kingdom’s port competitiveness regionally and globally and to keep trade moving smoothly in line with Saudi Vision 2030 targets.
