The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of a new maritime link connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain through the GULF SHUTTLE shipping service, operated by MSC.
This new route, passing through King Abdulaziz Port, is part of Mawani’s continued efforts to enhance maritime connectivity and expand its shipping network, strengthening trade ties between the two nations.
The GULF SHUTTLE service establishes a direct maritime connection between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain, with a significant capacity of up to 3,000 standard containers. This new service is set to enhance trade efficiency and boost regional maritime connectivity between the two key ports.
This initiative is a key part of Mawani’s ongoing efforts to reinforce the Kingdom’s role as a leading global logistics hub, serving as a vital connection between three continents and boosting its position in international trade and maritime networks.
This move also supports the growth of national exports and aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Recently, Mawani announced the addition of MSC’s new Gulf Shuttle shipping service to King Abdulaziz Port, marking a significant step in enhancing the port’s connectivity and strengthening maritime trade in the region.
The Gulf Shuttle service connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with key ports in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, as well as Umm Qasr in Iraq, enhancing regional trade routes and facilitating smoother maritime connectivity across the Gulf.
