Sharing a very upbeat outlook at the COVID-19 vaccine and its availability across the globe, Mr. Ugur Sahin, CEO and co-founder of German biotechnology company BioNTech affirmed that almost everyone around the world will be able to receive the vaccine within an approximate timeframe of ten months from now.

Dr. Sahin’s response comes days after the COVID-19 vaccine co-developed by BioNTech and American pharma giant Pfizer was reported to be 90 percent effective against COVID-19.

Speaking at a media interview, Dr. Sahin said “People should understand the urgent need for patience, especially since the vaccine during the next three months will only be available in limited doses.”

The Pfizer CEO urged people to continue adhering to social distancing and take measures not to expose themselves and their family members to danger.

“From next March or April, we may be in a better position. Because more companies such as AstraZeneca and others will come up with vaccines,” the Pfizer chief observed while adding that “a number of companies are working to develop a vaccine. I think we will all be able to get more vaccines by the middle of next year.”

Dr. Sahin was optimistic that precautionary restrictions currently placed in many countries will be eased by the middle of next year highlighting that “it is imperative that we will be able to solve the problem by the third quarter of 2021, so we have 10 months left.”

Speaking about the efficacy of the vaccines being developed, Dr. Ugur remarked that the world now knows that vaccines can be effective adding that “I think the situation will improve greatly in the summer of 2021, and we may have controlled 80 percent of the cases by September 2021.”
