The Sultanate of Oman has participated in the first joint meeting between the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), held in Azerbaijan capital Baku.
The joint meeting at Baku, held from from July 18 to 19, brought together representatives from across the Arab and Asian audit bodies to strengthen cooperation, enhance institutional capacity, and exchange technical expertise.
Oman’s delegation was led by Zahra bint Mohammed Redha Al Lawati, Deputy Chairperson of the State Audit Institution for Supervision of Institutions, Investments and Companies.
During the sessions, key committees presented visual briefings, including the Knowledge Building Committee, Capacity Building Committee, Financial and Administrative Affairs Committee, and the Institutional Development Committee. These presentations outlined each committee’s current responsibilities and highlighted areas for future collaboration between ARABOSAI and ASOSAI.
The agenda of Baku Meet also featured an exchange of experiences among supreme audit institutions on critical global topics. These included the role of audit work in addressing climate change, the integration of artificial intelligence into auditing processes, and initiatives to support green infrastructure development.
Oman’s participation in this high-level meeting at Baku underscores its commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at enhancing public financial oversight and accountability. It also reflects the Sultanate’s ongoing engagement in global audit cooperation in line with the best practices endorsed by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The event marked a significant step forward in fostering greater Arab-Asian cooperation in public sector auditing and promoting sustainable development goals through improved oversight frameworks.
