Oman strengthens aviation investigation and safety cooperation

The Oman Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, represented by the Transport Safety Office, has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU) with the Oman Aviation Academy to strengthen cooperation in aviation incident and accident investigations.

The agreement aims to improve investigation procedures in line with international standards and best practices. It also supports the development of national expertise and strengthens Oman’s aviation safety framework.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Engineer Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamkhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, and Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Abri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Aviation Academy.

The partnership establishes long-term institutional cooperation between the two organizations. It focuses on developing national competencies, improving technical readiness, and supporting faster responses during aviation investigations.

Under the memorandum, the two sides will exchange technical expertise and make use of specialists in aviation investigation work.

They will also collaborate on specialized training programs to strengthen the skills of personnel involved in aviation safety and investigations.

The agreement includes the organization of workshops, technical courses, and other professional development activities. National personnel will also take part in emergency exercises and related events to improve the preparedness of investigation teams and strengthen institutional performance.

The Ministry said that the cooperation reflects the commitment of both organizations to making greater use of national expertise while improving the country’s aviation investigation capabilities.

It added that closer cooperation will support the continued development of Oman’s aviation incident and accident investigation system.

The partnership will also improve technical coordination and promote investigation procedures that are aligned with international practices.

Through the memorandum, the Ministry and the Oman Aviation Academy will continue working together to strengthen technical capabilities, develop specialized skills, and improve operational readiness.

The agreement supports the implementation of international aviation safety standards and the continued development of the Sultanate’s civil aviation sector.
