The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has finalized its acquisition of SalamAir as part of its continued efforts to build a comprehensive and sustainable national aviation sector.

The acquisition of SalamAir also constitutes a significant milestone in further consolidating the company’s role as a major pillar of the national economy. The company serves as a key enabler for accelerating growth in the tourism sector and other related industries, contributing to broader economic diversification and development goals.

Oman Air-SalamAir integration and coordination

While the government seeks to enhance integration and coordination between the services of Oman Air and SalamAir, it has emphasized that both carriers will continue to operate as completely independent brands, maintaining their distinct operational identities and service models, without compromising their well-established standards of high quality and customer experience.

Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, stated that the approach aims to reduce overlap in the two airlines’ route networks, optimize fleet utilization, and expand air connectivity across the Sultanate of Oman and the wider region.

Salam Air acquisition to advance operational efficiency

Al Maawali further noted that this will enhance operational efficiency while offering travellers more choice and greater diversity across the two carriers’ economic segments. He added that the strategic move is also expected to strengthen the financial position of both airlines, while supporting ground service companies through improved cost structures and higher-quality revenue streams.

The minister stated that these outcomes will gradually align with the sector’s strategic objectives under Oman Vision 2040, highlighting the government’s vision for a promising future in the aviation sector. He also extended his gratitude and appreciation to all partners and stakeholders for their continued support and confidence.
