The Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman has held a video conference with Dr. Amer Bisat, Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade.
The meeting was centered on enhancing and strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two nations. In addition to this, the discussions also aimed at exploring new and promising avenues for strategic partnership that could contribute to mutual economic growth and prosperity.
During the course of the meeting, both ministers conducted a comprehensive review of the available opportunities for collaboration across several vital and key sectors. These included increasing and facilitating mutual investments, supporting the development and diversification of various industries, and capitalizing on the unique and strategic geographical locations of both countries through advancements in the logistics and transportation sectors.
The discussion further stressed on checking the potential and feasibility of establishing a direct flight route connecting Muscat, the capital of Oman, with Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Such a direct air route to Lebanon is expected to have a positive and beneficial impact on multiple fronts, particularly by promoting the tourism sector and enhancing the volume and ease of trade exchange between the two nations.
Furthermore, the meeting also addressed a proposal aimed at organizing a joint Omani-Lebanese economic forum, which would serve as a platform for dialogue, networking, and the strengthening of economic ties. Accompanying this forum would be an exhibition dedicated to showcasing Lebanese industries, providing an opportunity to highlight the capabilities and innovations of the Lebanese industrial sector.
Both sides firmly underscored the importance of elevating economic cooperation to more comprehensive and broader levels. They also agreed on the significance of working hand-in-hand to build and establish long-term strategic partnerships that are designed to support and achieve goals of sustainable development for both countries.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, who serves as the Sultanate of Oman’s ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon, along with a number of senior officials and representatives from both countries who contributed to the discussions.
