The Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Somalia have stepped up efforts to expand economic cooperation and explore new investment opportunities across key sectors, with a particular focus on food security, during high-level meetings held in Muscat.
Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), has held talks with Abdusalam Abdi Ali, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and his delegation to review existing bilateral ties and identify avenues for growth aligned with both countries’ strategic priorities.
Discussions centered on promising investment opportunities in vital sectors including energy, infrastructure, logistics, food security and information technology, alongside measures to strengthen economic and investment partnerships, enhance trade flows, and facilitate joint ventures between the two countries.
Both sides emphasised the need to enhance collaboration between public and private sectors to support sustainable development, stimulate investment, and unlock new pathways for economic integration.
They also highlighted the importance of continued coordination, policy alignment, and knowledge exchange to reinforce bilateral relations and advance mutual interests.
In a parallel meeting, Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, held talks with the Somali delegation focusing on expanding cooperation in food security.

The session reviewed opportunities to deepen partnerships, exchange expertise and develop joint initiatives aimed at strengthening food security frameworks, enhancing agricultural productivity, and ensuring sustainable resource management in both countries.
The meetings come as Oman and Somalia seek to broaden their economic engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and leverage shared opportunities to drive long-term growth, resilience, and sustainable development.
