Jeddah Islamic Port has announced a 60-day extension of storage fee exemption periods for transit cargo as part of a new package of incentives designed to improve supply chain efficiency and enhance the global competitiveness of Saudi ports.
The measure, which takes effect on July 19, 2026, reflects Saudi Arabia’s accelerating logistics transformation and its efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global trade and logistics hub.
The initiative includes three key operational measures:
Extending the storage fee exemption for transit containers to 15 days,
Granting a five-day exemption for general transit cargo,
Providing a five-day exemption for roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo and vehicles.
These measures offer customers greater flexibility in managing shipping, storage, and re-export operations.
The incentives reflect a strategic approach to enhancing the competitiveness of Jeddah Islamic Port, the Kingdom’s largest Red Sea port and one of the region’s leading trade hubs connecting East and West. The port handles millions of tons of cargo and containers annually, serving as a key pillar of regional and international supply chains.
According to the statement, the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub linking three continents by leveraging its strategic geographic location and advanced port network, which continues to expand through infrastructure development and enhanced digital and operational services.
With the decision now in effect, attention is turning to its anticipated impact on transit cargo movement in the coming weeks, as regional ports compete to attract more shipping lines and transshipment cargo. Meanwhile, Jeddah Islamic Port continues to strengthen its role as a strategic maritime gateway supporting trade growth and the efficient, sustainable flow of goods.
