The Ministry of Education of the Sultanate of Oman has signed a cooperation agreement with the Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company ‘Ooredoo’ to include scholarships within the Unified Admission Center system, thereby strengthening the link between educational outcomes and labor market needs.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Oman’s Minister of Education, and Saud Hamad Al Riyami, CEO of Ooredoo, with several officials from both sides in attendance.

This partnership aims to launch a national program that combines academic scholarships with a dedicated employment track. The initiative will provide fourteen scholarships in technical and digital disciplines of national priority, while also ensuring job opportunities for graduates who meet the specified criteria.

The program includes scholarships funded by Ooredoo, aligned with the unified admissions system, and will be rolled out in phases to ensure sustainability and high-quality outcomes. The first phase will focus on providing job opportunities for beneficiaries upon graduation.

This agreement highlights the Ministry of Education’s ongoing commitment to developing an education system that aligns with labor market needs, through strategic partnerships with the private sector. These collaborations aim to cultivate qualified national talent, particularly in vital sectors like technology and the digital economy, preparing them for future workforce demands.

The initiative supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on empowering local talent, enhancing education, and building a knowledge-based digital economy. It also reflects the private sector’s role in supporting human development and contributing to the growth of national capabilities, in line with Oman’s development priorities.

The signing ceremony featured a presentation outlining the program, targeted specializations, and employment opportunities, with examples of beneficiaries to demonstrate the anticipated positive impact on the career paths of Omani youth.
