President Nyusi invites Qatari investors to Mozambique

President of the Mozambique Republic, Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, has invited Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in the services of the East African country such as tourism, mining, port development, real estate, and infrastructure sectors.

Mr. Nyusi made the call during his interaction with Qatar Chamber officials at the Sheraton Hotel in the presence of Qatar Chamber first Vice-Chairman Mr. Mohamed bin Towar Al-Kuwari and board members Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Ansari, Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al-Mohamed, and Mr. Khalid bin Jabor Al-Kuwary.

Mr. Mohamed bin Towar Al-Kuwari stressed that the Qatari private sector is interested to bolster collaborative relations with its counterpart in Mozambique, indicating that Qatari businessmen are looking forward to learning about Mozambique’s investment climate and opportunities galore.

Qatar-Mozambique trade volume was about $19.4 million in 2021, below the aspirations of the two friendly countries.

Mr. Al-Kuwari assured the enhancement of co-operation between Qatari and Mozambican businessmen and the forging of mutual investments to help promote trade exchange between both countries. In 2019, both countries’ chambers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to activate cooperation between Qatari and Mozambican private sectors.

Mr. Al-Kuwari also underscored the MoU to uplift the private sector cooperation between the two countries.

The Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber also reiterated that Qatar Chamber promotes investors and businessmen to explore investment opportunities for various investment opportunities in Africa, especially in Mozambique, in many sectors.

Qatar Investment Authority has already invested close to $200 million in Africa, under the strategic deployment of its investments, to further explore the universe of financial inclusion in the region.
