The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar (Qatar MOCI) has launched five new electronic services in the field of intellectual property, increasing the total number of services available to seven, as part of its broader digital transformation strategy.

The newly introduced digital services by Qatar MOCI are designed to streamline procedures, speed up transaction processing, and enhance the overall quality and accessibility of services for beneficiaries across multiple creative and commercial sectors.

According to a statement shared by the Ministry, the new offerings include:

  • Application for the registration of a copyright and neighboring rights deposit certificate
  • Application for a ‘to whom it may concern’ certificate
  • Application for the issuance of a copyright and neighboring rights certificate
  • Application for amendments to copyright and neighboring rights registration
  • Application for waiver of a copyright and neighboring rights deposit certificate.

The Qatar MOCI emphasized that this expansion reflects its continued commitment to modernizing service delivery through digital platforms, reducing administrative burdens, and improving efficiency for users seeking intellectual property protections in Qatar.

Qatar MOCI further clarified that copyright beneficiaries include a wide range of creators such as poets, researchers, authors of literary works and screenplays, composers, music arrangers, artists, designers, architects, and developers of computer software and applications.

In addition, neighboring rights protections extend to performing artists, including singers, actors, and musicians, as well as producers of sound recordings and radio and television broadcasting organizations.

The launch of these services underscores Qatar’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its intellectual property framework while fostering innovation and supporting the creative economy through accessible, technology-driven solutions.
