The Qatar Chamber of Commerce has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two organizations.
The MoU will pave the way for joint business meetings, information exchange, and share data to support the interests of the private sector in both the countries.
The collaboration was formalized on the sidelines of the Qatar-Albania Business Meeting, hosted by the Qatar Chamber. HE Endrit Yzeiraj, Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, Qatar Chamber’s Second Vice Chairman, and Nikolin Jaka, President of Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the event, alongside representatives of 20 Albanian companies.
The meeting focused on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between Qatar and Albania and discussed investment opportunities across various key sectors.
Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, Qatar Chamber’s Second Vice Chairman, praised the strong relations between the two countries, emphasizing the significant potential to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries.
Al Athba also highlighted that the volume of trade exchange between both countries reached $9.1 million (QR 33.5 million) last year, reiterating the Qatar Chamber’s commitment to empowering the private sector in both nations to unlock investment opportunities and foster trade partnerships in crucial sectors such as energy, infrastructure, tourism, industry, and agriculture.
HE Endrit Yzeiraj, Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania underscored that Qatar is a key investment destination for the Albanian business sector and reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to bolstering investment relations between the private sectors of both countries.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the significance of forging partnerships based on economic diversification and integrating Qatar’s expertise and private sector capabilities, while also stressing Albania’s readiness to support Qatari investors by providing data and information necessary for setting up businesses in Albania.
The Minister further underscored Albania’s key potential as an attractive investment destination for Qatari investors, particularly in agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, and IT, also highlighting Albania’s strategic position as a gateway between Mediterranean countries and Europe.
Nikolin Jaka, President of Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that the MoU would open broader vistas for economic cooperation and private-sector partnerships between the two countries. The president was accompanied by a delegation of 20 leading Albanian companies eager to explore economic partnerships with Qatari businessmen.
Moreover, Jaka urged Qatari businessmen to visit Albania to unlock investment opportunities and benefit from the government’s incentives for foreign investments and large-scale projects introduced for foreign investors.
The Albanian delegation also delivered presentations during the meeting, centering on investment prospects in Albania, highlighting key incentives, facilities, and exemptions offered to investors. They also underscored key investment opportunities in government projects, private sector initiatives, and the free economic zones in Tirana.
