Qatar government has unveiled additional ease of restrictions after it’s initial (phase 1) relaxation it introduced from September 1 which included the resumption of mass transit systems.

After examining various indicators of the spread of the pandemic in the community, Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Crisis Management has introduced the second part of the fourth phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions from today.

“With the gradual lifting of Coronavirus restrictions, the Committee stresses that it is necessary to continue adhering to these measures at all times, especially during the coming period which will see the further lifting of restrictions,” the statement said.

Authorities will continue to assess the situation and consider re-imposing or lifting some restrictions based on developments and health indicators.

The new ease of restrictions introduced from 15 September are:

  • Allowing cinema and theatres to operate at 30 percent occupancy subject to honoring all precautionary measures including entry for only those who are 18 years.
  • The reduced operational capacity of gyms, health clubs and public swimming pools to 30 percent while following all precautionary measures that have been previously announced by the relevant authorities.

The Supreme Committee for Crisis Management urged for the cooperation of everyone and asked for a commitment to follow precautionary measures, including maintaining a safe distance, wearing masks while outside, washing hands, and activating the Ehteraz application. The committee reiterated that the evaluation of lifting or imposing further measures will depend on how everyone ensures strict compliance with the restrictions and precautions.
