Qatari, Ukrainian leaders explore avenues of investment

Qatar’s Minister of Commerce & Industry and Acting Minister of Finance, Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and Mr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine recently engaged in a bilateral discussion to improve avenues of investments. 

The leaders held their discussions amid the second session of the Qatari-Ukrainian Joint Committee on Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation, which was hosted in Kiev, Ukraine from August 31 until September 2, 2021.

The minister had several interactions with a number of Ukrainian Ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Mr. Oleh Semenovych Urusky, and Ukrainian Minister of Finance, Mr. Sergii Marchenko.

Mr. Hadi Nasser Al Hajri, Qatar’s Ambassador to Ukraine also took part in these discussions which reviewed bilateral relations and discussed aspects of cooperation, especially in the trade, investment, and industrial fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them.

During the interactions, the Qatari Minister of Commerce & Industry emphasized the significance of heightened efforts to encourage the private sector in both countries to establish sustainable trade and investment partnerships that contribute to furthering the relations between the two nations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, as per clear frameworks that serve the development trends of Qatar and Ukraine.

Mr. Al Kuwari highlighted the importance of activating all agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed over the past years, further calling for the opening of new areas for developing economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The Qatari Minister of Commerce & Industry reiterated that Qatar welcomes Ukrainian businesspeople and companies who are interested to invest in the country and benefit from the important investment opportunities that have been provided in various fields.
