Qatar’s QIB bags 6 prestigious titles from ‘The Digital Banker’

Qatar’s first Islamic financial institution, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has secured six prestigious awards at The Digital Banker’s the Middle East & North Africa Retail and Banking Innovation Awards 2021.

The bank was recognized as the ‘Best Digital Bank in Qatar’ and ‘Best Retail Bank in Qatar’ and Mr. Bassel Gamal was named ‘CEO of the Year in Qatar’. At the regional level, QIB received ‘Best Mobile Banking’, ‘Best Digital Account Opening’, ‘Excellence in Digital Innovation’ accolades.

Commenting on the achievement, QIB stated, “The awards are globally acclaimed and co-judged by leading consultancies and seminal subject matter experts internationally, who review submissions and name winners against a stringent set of awards criteria.”

QIB is the first Bank in Qatar to bring a complete ‘Digital Onboarding’ solution on its mobile app, enabling prospective customers to build a relationship with the bank by opening a savings or current account within minutes. QIB is also the first Islamic bank in the world to introduce instant finance through the app allowing pre-approved customers to get personal financing in a few clicks.

Last year, QIB launched the ‘Instant Credit Card’, a first-of-its-kind in service Qatar, which offers pre-approved QIB customers the opportunity to instantly apply, get approval and receive a credit card tailored to their specific needs, all through the mobile app.
