Riyadh Air has expanded its long-haul fleet plans by exercising its purchase rights for six additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, taking its total confirmed order for the widebody aircraft to 31.
The latest order underscores the Saudi Arabian carrier’s commitment to accelerating international expansion and building a modern, fuel-efficient fleet. The airline has also confirmed an order for 60 Airbus A321 aircraft, bringing its total Airbus order book to 91 aircraft.
In addition, Riyadh Air has retained purchase rights for another 19 aircraft, providing greater flexibility to support future fleet expansion and respond to growing market demand.
The Airbus A350-1000 will form the backbone of Riyadh Air’s long-haul operations, enabling the airline to connect Riyadh with key destinations across Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and other global markets. The aircraft is expected to play a central role in supporting the carrier’s international network growth while offering improved operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
The announcement further reinforces Riyadh Air’s progress in establishing a global route network following the launch of its first scheduled commercial service between Riyadh (RUH) and London Heathrow (LHR) on June 10 using its new fleet. The fleet expansion marks another milestone in the airline’s long-term strategy to develop one of the world’s newest and most efficient commercial fleets.
Riyadh Air’s sustainability strategy is supported by a long-term agreement with Rolls-Royce for TotalCare engine services. The airline has also committed to operating its fleet on 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030, reinforcing its efforts to reduce carbon emissions while supporting sustainable long-term growth.
