GIG Gulf has introduced war cover as an add-on option for comprehensive personal motor policies and select commercial fleet policies in the UAE, allowing customers to choose from three levels of protection based on their needs and budget.

The UAE-based insurer said the new offering provides motorists and businesses with greater flexibility in protecting their vehicles against war-related risks, which have traditionally been excluded from standard motor insurance policies.

GIG Gulf, an ‘A’ rated insurer with more than 70 years of regional heritage and a top-five market position across the UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar, said the new war cover can be added when purchasing or renewing a comprehensive personal motor or commercial fleet policy. Existing policyholders can request the cover by contacting the GIG Gulf customer care team.

While war-related damage has historically been excluded from standard motor insurance policies, changes in the regional risk landscape have increased demand for additional protection options. GIG Gulf said its three-tier approach provides customers with more accessible choices compared with single, high-cost add-on covers.

The company said the commercial fleet offering is aimed at supporting businesses, logistics operators and corporate fleets that have previously had limited options for war-related vehicle protection.

Paul Adamson, CEO, GIG Gulf, said that, “Real commitment means being there for the moments that matter most to our customers. That’s why we’ve added war cover to motor and fleet policies, giving people and businesses the peace of mind they deserve.”

GIG Gulf said the initiative reflects its commitment to developing insurance solutions aligned with evolving risks faced by individuals and businesses across the region. The insurer added that motorists, logistics providers and fleet operators play a key role in the UAE economy, and the new coverage is designed to provide additional protection for the sector.
