Saudi and Malaysia sign MoU on internal auditing cooperation

The General Court of Audit (GCA) along with the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Malaysia.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of GCA and Chairman of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors with the Malaysian side represented by IIA’s Board of Governors President Suhailah Mohamed Abdulla.

The MoU aims to boost cooperation between the two organizations in internal auditing, governance, and compliance. In this regard, Dr. Alangari also met with Malaysian National Audit Department Auditor-General Wan Suraya Radzi, in Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia Musaed Al-Saleem.

Based on principles of mutual trust and partnership, the MoU aligns with international standards for internal auditing and emphasizes the importance of exchanging expertise, enhancing professional effectiveness, and evaluating governance and compliance in accordance with the laws of both countries.

The signing of the MoU enables IIA members from both countries to enhance their expertise internal audit, governance, and compliance, paving the way for:

  • Exchange of information, publications, advise, expertise, research and methodologies in internal audit, governance and compliance
  • Hosting of joint conferences, seminars & training programs for capacity building, including visits between experts and specialists
  • Support of professional certification exams in internal audit, governance and compliance
  • Promoting the value of internal audit in strengthening corporate governance
