Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, has met with Börje Ekholm, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ericsson, to explore opportunities for expanding the company’s investments in the Kingdom.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in digital infrastructure, advanced 5G networks, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and emerging technology innovation.
Both sides reviewed ongoing initiatives and identified avenues to further scale partnerships aligned with Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
The meeting also highlighted shared ambitions to strengthen the development of telecommunications networks and national digital capabilities.
This builds on existing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Ericsson, which has played a key role in advancing the Kingdom’s connectivity and digital transformation agenda.
Saudi Arabia was recognized during the discussions as a highly attractive investment destination for global technology companies, supported by a strong regulatory environment, strategic government initiatives, and large-scale national development projects that continue to create opportunities for innovation and growth.
Ericsson’s growing presence in the Kingdom was noted, including its regional headquarters in Riyadh, established partnerships with government entities and telecom operators, and deployment of advanced solutions across multiple sectors.
Börje Ekholm emphasized that, “As Ericsson marks 150 years of shaping global communications, our half-century partnership with Saudi Arabia stands as one of our most defining chapters. Saudi Arabia’s strong long-term vision, digital ambition, and expanding innovation ecosystem continue to make it a highly attractive market for investment.”
The meeting reaffirmed both parties’ commitment to advancing cooperation in next-generation technologies and supporting Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation goals under its national development strategy.
