President of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s General Court of Audit (GCA), Dr. Hussam Alangari, has received the ‘Future Award presented by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The award recognizes his transformative achievements in auditing practices, GCA’s outstanding contributions to the INTOSAI community, and its impactful role in shaping the future of financial and performance auditing worldwide.
The award was announced today, Friday, during the General Assembly of INTOSAI held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt. This award reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued contributions on the international stage, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
The Future Award is one of the highest honors granted by INTOSAI, presented once every three years to a Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) demonstrating innovation, forward-looking vision, and exceptional leadership in auditing within the INTOSAI community. The recipient is selected through a rigorous nomination and evaluation process conducted by a dedicated panel of jurors. The panel carefully reviews submissions from leading SAIs worldwide, evaluating each institution’s achievements, innovations, and contributions to advancing the auditing profession and the INTOSAI community.
GCA’s win of INTOSAI award recognizes its comprehensive transformation of auditing practices and methodologies in Saudi Arabia, as well as its distinguished international contributions through multiple leadership roles that are shaping the profession’s future. The nomination highlighted GCA’s global leadership, including its digital auditing transformation through the Shamel Platform, a pioneering initiative recognized internationally as a model for comprehensive auditing practices.
Additionally, GCA has led innovations in auditing methodologies aligned with INTOSAI Standards (ISSAIs) and International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) standards, enhancing audit quality and impact.

GCA has also contributed significantly to developing professional human capital in accounting and auditing, launching digital platforms and diverse training programs to equip auditors across the Arab region with advanced skills and expertise.
Established in 1981 as the ‘Jörg Kandutsch Award’ to honor Dr. Jörg Kandutsch, this INTOSAI award recognizes institutions with outstanding contributions to the auditing community. GCA first received it in 1989, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) was the most recent recipient in 2022. It has since been renamed to highlight innovation and the future of auditing.
